Who Is Gary Taylor

Many, when asked, respond with, " Gary who?" As it stands, either you are among Gary Taylor's devoted fans or you've never heard of him. But even if you don't know Taylor by name, chances are good you're familiar with his music. Do you remember Doc Powell's "No Me Without You"? Do you know the Whispers' hits, "Just Gets Better With Time" or "My Heart Your Heart"? Ever heard Anita Baker's or Walter Beasley's "Good Love"? Does Lalah Hathaway's "I'm Coming Back" strike a familiar chord? For more than two decades now, Taylor has been writing and producing for artists from Vanessa Williams to Vesta Williams, among many others. However, the real musical treat is Gary Taylor, the artist, who has recorded eight CDs of some of the sexiest, most soulful and melodic R&B around. As a background vocalist Taylor has appeared on many projects. The Whispers "Rock Steady" and the Taylor produced, "My Flame", for singer/actress Vanessa L. Williams are two most notable. He is often found in the background on all of the songs he has produced. Taylor says his greatest joy in background singing came when he was called to sing on a song with the legendary Nancy Wilson . To this day he cherishes a thank you letter he received from Ms Wilson for that project.
